Become a Board Member!

We are now accepting applications for our Fall 2023 Election of MAMFT Board Members!

Are you a member of MAMFT that would like to be more active in our association? Do you know someone who would be a great advocate for our profession? If so, reach out now! All board positions will begin January 2024. 

MAMFT is enriched by the diversity of its membership and strives to maintain a Board of Directors that is representative of its membership and the wide range of contexts in which MFT’s work throughout the state. The Board works not only to enhance the professional life of its members, but also to ensure that Marriage and Family Therapy continues to be a viable profession in Minnesota.

All members are encouraged to nominate a respected colleague for an appropriate position or to think about how you might become more involved in our association.

This election cycle, we have 12 total open positions within 2 different rolesAfter a few years of trials and triumphs, our small but fierce board is focused on finding a new normal within our MAMFT community. We are excited to be able to grow again as we continue our pursuits of action, branding, and sustainable community. We have 8 openings for At Large Board Members and 4 openings on the Elections Committee. Positions Available

At Large Board Member - 8 Open Positions

An At-Large Board Member serves a three year term and is expected to advocate for MAMFT and uphold its mission. This is a voting position on the Board and will require active participation in all Board decisions. Each Board member is responsible for joining a minimum of one committee during their term and may change committee commitment annually during the retreat. 

Responsibilities

  • Review and be familiar with MAMFT’s Bylaws and Policy/Procedure Manual

  • Attend all Board, Collaborative and Annual Meetings

  • Attend all meetings for the committee joined

  • Check MAMFT assigned email a minimum of 3 days a week M-F

  • Respond to email discussions and voting within 48hrs M-F

  • Review key documents, participate in decision making and use resources wisely

  • Participate in MAMFT events such as Annual Conference, Membership events and other trainings

Time Commitment: 10-15 hours per month

Elections Committee Member - 4 Open Positions

An Elections Committee Member serves a three year term and is expected to advocate for MAMFT and uphold its mission. The Elections Committee is responsible for recruiting and vetting a diverse roster of nominees for each position, for determining the eligibility of each nominee, and participates in overseeing the election process.

Responsibilities

  • Attend monthly MAMFT board and Elections Committee meetings

  • Create and participate in recruiting events 

  • Reach out to potential candidates and provide information about each position

  • Screen potential candidates and complete initial vetting

  • Oversee election process and assist candidates in creating public statements

Time Commitment: 3-6 hours per month
